Robert Dane

Robert Dane began blowing glass at Massachusetts College of Art in 1973 and studied with such icons as Lino Tagliapietra, Pino Signoretto, Dan Daily, William Morris, Martin Janecky and others. His work is a part of the permanent collections of a number of prestigious galleries and museums including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Corning Museum of Glass and the Renwick Collection of the Smithsonian Inst.

From 1996 through 2016 he and his wife, Jane owned and operated the Dane Gallery on Nantucket Island. More recently he works from his studio in Heath, Mass. located in the northern Berkshire mountains. Inspired by the Italian tradition of glass blowing, Robert puts a distinctly American spin on his work with the colors and spontaneous improvisations of his unique designs.
